WordPress explained, not just demonstrated.

Write for WP4Newbies

WP4Newbies is a new site for people who are just starting out with WordPress. Most tutorials tell beginners which buttons to click. We also tell them why, so they understand what they did and can fix it when something changes.

We’re looking for guest writers who can write that way. You don’t need to be an expert. If you recently figured something out and can explain it clearly to the person you were six months ago, you’re who we want.

What you get

  • A byline and author page with your bio, photo, and a link to your site, portfolio, or services
  • One dofollow link in your bio to a site of your choice
  • Real editing. Every post gets a careful edit before it goes live, and you see the changes
  • A published clip you can point clients and employers to

Guest posts are unpaid. We’re a small independent site, and we’d rather say so up front.

What we’re looking for

  • Step-by-step tutorials for a single, specific task
  • Plain-English explanations of WordPress concepts (what a child theme is, how caching works, what a plugin conflict means)
  • Troubleshooting guides for common errors
  • Honest comparisons and reviews based on tools you have used yourself

What we don’t publish

  • Posts that exist to promote a product, or that have been published elsewhere
  • Text generated by AI and submitted unedited. Use whatever tools you like to tidy your wording, but the experience and the testing have to be yours
  • Anything you haven’t tried on a real WordPress site
  • Paid or sponsored posts

Guidelines

  • Length: 800 to 1,500 words for most posts
  • Audience: assume the reader is smart but new. Define every term the first time you use it
  • Screenshots: include your own, taken on a current version of WordPress
  • Your setup: tell us the kind of hosting, the theme, and the versions of WordPress and any plugin involved. The post will name them
  • Disclosure: tell us if you have a financial relationship with anything you mention. If you make the product you’re writing about, the post will say so in its first lines
  • Links: don’t add affiliate links. Links in the body are there because they help the reader
  • Accuracy: test every step before you submit

How your post gets tested

Before a guest post is published, the editor follows it from start to finish on this site, using only what you wrote. If a step doesn’t work, or needs a guess, it comes back to you. This is the promise our How We Test page makes to readers, and it applies to every post.

How to pitch

Don’t send a finished draft. Email [CONFIRM: pitch address, or link /contact/] with:

  1. The title you have in mind
  2. Three or four sentences on what the post will cover
  3. A link to something you’ve written, if you have one (not required)

Not sure what to write? Ask, and we’ll send you a list of topics we need.

We reply to every pitch within [CONFIRM: number] days.

The fine print

You keep the copyright to your work. By submitting, you give WP4Newbies a permanent, non-exclusive license to publish, edit, and update the post, and you agree not to publish the same piece elsewhere. We may add affiliate links to published posts and may update or correct posts over time to keep them accurate.
