We, the creators of this website, have gained immense appreciation for the open source movement and its ideology, so much so that we have incorporated two of its guiding principles into our business model: honesty and transparency. This spirit of openness mandates that we disclose to our users our intention to fund this site using affiliate programs. Some of the tutorials on this site, therefore, will contain affiliate links — always clearly marked.
What is an affiliate link?
An affiliate link is a specific URL, usually directly to a product or service, that contains a tracking code. If you click on one of these links and end up purchasing the product or service in question, then we may receive a small commission from the seller; a “finder’s fee” for referring you to them.
Does it cost anything extra?
No. Affiliate links have no effect on the price you pay for a linked product or service; it is paid out of the seller’s marketing budget. In some cases, our links may even include a special discount code just for our readers. Affiliate links are a great way to fund the content you enjoy at no cost to you.
Why do we use affiliate links?
Running this website requires time, effort, and money (for hosting, design, and content creation). The commissions we (hope to) earn will help support the site, so we can continue providing free content to our users.
